The original Ringfeder? Locking Assemblies featuring double-tapered thrust rings with self-releasing tapers. They bridge relatively large fit clearances, are easy to install, adjust or remove, but are not self-centering. A pre-centering hub section is usually required. These units are most commonly used on applications in general engineering to transmit high torques and axial loads utilizing larger machining tolerances. Available sizes: metric series for shafts from 16 mm to 1000 mm dia.; Inch series for shafts from 3/4” to 7.875” diameter.
These Locking Assemblies are of single-taper design with a self-locking taper providing good self-centering action and concentricity, as well as increased torque capacity. A pre-centering hub section is not required. Integral push-off screws for disassembly are provided. This unit can be placed deep inside a bore due to it’s design. Available sizes: Metric series shafts from 20 mm to 150 mm dia. and Inch series for shafts from 1” to 4” diameter.
These flange type units fix the hub positively against their extended flange preventing axial movement during tightening. Applied wherever self-centering action and good concentricity of mounted components are essential and hubs with straight-thru bores are used. Available sizes: Metric series shafts from 20 mm to 150 mm dia. and Inch series for shafts from 1” to 4” diameter.
This locking device, dual tapered similar the 7012 type, is designed to transmit extremely high torques. Unlike the 7012 style, the 7014 device offers good centering ability due to it’s relatively long design, making a pre-centering hub section unnecessary. It’s design also provides for a different inside diameter to outside diameter ration, thereby not interchangeable with the other Ringfeder types. Available in sizes from 70 to 200 mm.
For superb centering and high torque transmission, this dual tapered device reflects the best in RINGFEDER engineering expertise. This style is in two types; 7015.0 for general engineering applications and 7015.1 for conveyor pulley applications Available in sizes 100 to 600 mm.
Especially for the bending moment transmission designed 3 part Locking Assembly with reduced stresses in the Locking Assembly itself.
Special Features - Through the long and flat cones one Locking Assembly RfN 7515 can transmit torques and axial forces and bending loads. At mounting is a small axial movement from Locking Assembly and hub.
Bending moment and radial loads – combined loads can be transmitted (Please contact our specialists for assistance).
Excellent centering ability – with a relatively wide design.
Example applications: Belt drums, gear wheels.
Identical in design and function to the traditional 7012 device, this unit is made of stainless steel for applications requiring rust free installation. Torque capacity is somewhat reduced due to the nature of stainless steel.
Self-centering 2-piece Locking Assem?blies for medium torques. During mounting, minor axial displacement of the hub occurs in opposite direction of the screw head. Due to the small number of screws, cost savings during mounting are ensured. For disassembly only few release screws are required.
Specially small dimensioned self-centering Locking Assembly without axial displacement. As the locking srews are located out of the actual clamping area and the pressures are relatively low, the hub can be designed economically small.
Typical belt drum application
The bending moment acting on the hub/shaft connection is the main load to evaluate in a belt drum or similar application. Excessive bending moments can cause overstress in the webs between the screw holes in the locking assembly. In the case of additional loads (bending moments/ radial loads) screw tightening torques may have to be reduced. To limit the influence of the bending load on the locking assembly connection we use the following criteria during the belt drum design process:
- Shaft deflection from the bending moments can only have a maximum deflection fm < 1/2000 * L (bearing centre distance).
The new Locking Assembly series RINGFEDER? RfN 7012.2 is specially designed to fulfil the requirements of constantly increasing bending moments for conveyor pullies.
The challenge was to develop a product with the same dimensions as the standard RINGFEDER? RfN 7012 to fit into existing end discs – Attention: yield point of end disc has to be checked – so that also material handling equipment at hand can be upgraded. At the same time the Locking Assembly should carry a multiple of the bending moments of the standard RINGFEDER? RfN 7012.

This two piece self centering design is cost-efficient for medium torque applications. During mounting, slight axial displacement of the hub occurs. Available in very small sizes.
Two piece design with slit and single taper and without flange can be completely recessed within a component’s hub. Axial position of component not fixed and may move during installation.
